About: Native to south India, black pepper is a flowering vine in the family Piperaceae. The fruit (a.k.a., peppercorn) is usually dried and used as a spice and seasoning. It has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Piperine is commonly used to increase the bioavailability of certain plant bioactive compounds such as curcumin.
