Our cross-functional teams tackle the industry’s most complex challenges.
As experts in customized wellness solutions and speed to market, we help our partners differentiate on a crowded shelf space. That’s the OmniActive difference.
At OmniActive, we invest significantly in R&D and innovation, working closely with our partners. Our strengths lie in our ability to leverage science and technology to meet the demands of consumers and the rigorous scientific and quality standards for today’s dietary supplement market.
Based in India, our R&D centers are focused on developing innovative extracts and pioneering delivery forms. We work closely with regulatory agencies for global approval of our ingredients and delivery systems, as well as actively sponsor research and human clinical trials.
OmniActive operates a vertically integrated supply chain for lutein and zeaxanthin-based products—right from developing non-GMO seeds to cultivation of marigold and paprika crops with a dedicated base of farmers in India, to processing them into oleoresins and finally finished goods. OmniActive has access to more than 1,000 germplasm lines of marigold and paprika crops that are used in plant breeding work to develop varieties. The scientists who develop our marigold and paprika varieties have a deep understanding of biological sciences. These varieties are tolerant to pests and diseases, high in target actives, and are adaptable to local conditions to produce good yields thereby securing the raw material supply. We have sophisticated, full-scale laboratories that are constantly looking for ways to improve our productivity, develop new products and optimize the manufacturing of our current portfolio.
Our R&D processes are controlled and monitored by experienced chemists, most of whom are doctorates and postgraduates. Our world-class laboratories have been approved by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India.
Our facility in Pune conducts extensive work on extraction, isolation, and purification of nutritional bioactives. This facility seeks to improve existing extracts and ingredients, as well as develop new product offerings.
Our Thane R&D Center houses our analytical and formulation teams. The analytical team establishes measures for ensuring the differentiation and quality of our ingredients. The formulation team develops new products and technologies for a wide array of applications and delivery forms to address customer needs and challenges.
At OmniActive, quality is paramount. We put in place the most stringent safety and quality standards across all of our operations to ensure compliance with current and emerging global regulatory and customer requirements. We perform rigorous quality checks at every stage of manufacturing and storage of our products. We maintain end-to-end traceability through chain of custody and a diligent quality management system. We strive to provide our customers with products and services that exceed their expectations, which has earned us a remarkable reputation around the globe.
Quality control is involved in the screening and testing of input materials, in-process, intermediate and finished products. Contaminant testing, including microbiology, heavy metals, pesticides, and other non-routine contaminants, is carried out through accredited public testing labs using validated methods.
We hold several certifications and accreditations for our products and facilities. In 2019, we earned the World Quality Congress Award 2019 for “Excellence in Quality Management & Leadership-Best Nutraceutical Company” and in 2020, we received the CII Business Excellence Award.
The vast majority of our ingredients are manufactured in-house in our state-of-the-art pharmaceutical-grade facilities which are cGMP, food safety, and HACCP system compliant. Two of our facilities have successfully undergone an FDA CFR -117 audit.
We have designed our facilities with maximum flexibility, allowing the production of large bulk orders or small batches at short notice. We operate across several different lines, which allows us to extract several products simultaneously without the risk of cross-contamination.
The facilities are certified for Food Safety System Certifications (BRC / FSSC 22000) under Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), Good Manufacturing Practices, Environment Management System (ISO 14001) and Occupational Health Safety Assessment Series (ISO 45001). Products manufactured are certified for Kosher and Halal, with many of our actives being USP and Non-GMO Project Verified as well as certified USD Organic.
Our facility is spread across a vast campus where all the manufacturing of our botanical actives takes place, including extraction, concentration, drying, and powdered formulation to the desired concentration of our customers.
Our branded, Specialty Actives are produced at both of these facilities, where we extract, concentrate, blend and apply our proprietary delivery technologies before they are sent off to customers to be transformed into various delivery forms.
The Lutemax range of ingredients is produced under a fully integrated supply chain process which starts with our own non-GMO seed and cultivation of marigold flowers and paprika fruits, through extraction and finally manufacturing of beadlets and oil suspensions for superior quality control.
For the sourcing of all other Specialty & Botanical Actives, we have a network of over 100 suppliers across different geographies to ensure consistent supply with traceability and transparency. OmniActive is consistently prepared with stock of botanical raw materials to support varying customer needs. We carry significant inventories of our products to account for inclement weather and other logistical issues that can hamper supply chains. We ensure sustainability through supplier visits during pre-harvest seasons to overcome the challenge of local and seasonality of the raw botanicals and to ensure the timely supply of quality raw material.
